Shelf were put into bat on a damp and slow wicket.
 
Batting was hard and through some hard graft Shelf scored 164 - 9, top scorers being Steve Priestley with 40 not out, and Andy Dimbleby 27
 
In reply Thornbury struggled to 104 - 7 before play was abandoned because of bad light.
