After having the last 4 matches rained off and although the pitch was very wet and the out field even wetter it was good to play an actual game of cricket for once.
Against a strong looking Low Moor batting line up all the shelf bowlers did well with the exception of Nat’s last over which never seemed like it was going to end and eventually went for a total of 25 runs.
The pick of the Shelf bowling came from Steve ‘that bloke from CSI Miami’ Priestley (3 -23) and Ian ‘carrots’ Carradice (2 – 17) who would have had 3 wickets if Jonny Marshall could catch behind the stumps.
Leigh Butterfield took the fielding point after a terrific catch at square leg and already looks certain to take over the mantel from the self proclaimed best fielder at Shelf ‘Chris Coates’ who had a nightmare!
Low Moor ended with a competitive total of 127 for 6 from their 18 overs. In reply Shelf’s batters made light work of this task and reach the total with 4 overs and 6 wickets to spare. A Lal was the top scorer with 48 runs followed by Jonny Marshall (39) and Gary Severn (22).
